The German Beer Map

Germany has roughly 1,500 breweries pouring some 6,000 different beers — over half of them in Bavaria alone. Before you raise a stein at Eggstoberfest, take a tour: every marker is a real German brewery, with its founding year, signature styles and official website. Filter by region, then click any marker.

The Directory

Breweries of Germany — Websites, Contacts & Styles

A curated atlas of 40+ German breweries, from the world's oldest (Weihenstephan, brewing since 1040) to Berlin's container-built craft upstarts. Each card lists the brewery's home town, founding year, signature beer styles, and its official website — where you'll find current phone numbers, addresses, tour bookings and contact forms.

Types of German Beer

From pale Munich Helles to black Thuringian Schwarzbier, from Cologne's dainty Kölsch to Bamberg's campfire-smoked Rauchbier — sixteen classic styles, with strength, origin story, proper glassware and what to eat alongside. Consider this your Eggstoberfest tasting syllabus.

Beer School, Part 2

A Short History of German Beer

Three thousand years, one purity law, and the lager that conquered the world — the story of German beer from Hallstatt amphorae to the 500th birthday of the Reinheitsgebot.

Beer School, Part 3

Beyond Beer: Classic German Beverages

Germany's drinking culture doesn't end at the beer tap. Radler for the sunshine, Spezi for the designated driver, Apfelwein for the Hessians, Glühwein for winter — and Eierlikör, the egg liqueur that makes it the unofficial spirit of an adult egg hunt.
